Closed for the Holidays~

We are now closed the Holiday Season so we can enjoy "Family Time",

Play board games, sing Christmas carols.....

fa la la la la la la la ........ listen to Christmas carols, tell stories of when we were young.... I walked up hill and down hill in the blizzard 10 miles to get to school. We will drink hot chocolate, hot cider, eat pop corn, make more pop corn and snuggle while watching The Christmas Story!

Ho, Ho, Ho you'll shoot your eye out kid! LOVE IT!

Here are a couple of little tid bits for you to enjoy!

Here is a sweeeet treat to make!

Caramel~Covered Corn Chex

1c. Butter 1 large box Corn Chex
1 c. brown sugar 1 large jar dry roasted 1 c. corn syrup peanuts

In a medium pan, melt together the butter, brown sugar and corn syrup. Bring to a boil and let boil for 1 ½ minutes. Take two large brown bags, one inside the other. Place corn chex and peanuts in the inner bag. Pour the syrup mixture over the cereal and peanuts and fold the bag shut. Shake. Microwave for 1 minute; shake. Repeat this process two more times. Place mixture in a bowl and break apart into chunks.

Here is a gift idea for the little ones!
When my three-year-old son opened the birthday gift from his grandmother, he discovered a water pistol. He squealed with delight and headed for the nearest sink. I was not so pleased. I turned to my mom and said, “I’m surprised at you. Don’t you remember how we used do drive you crazy with water guns?” Mom smiled and then replied, “ I remember.”

( I thought this was a cute one for holiday humor! OH, sweet revenge with love!)

T’was the Night Before Christmas~
Not a sign of Baby Jesus

T’was the Night Before Christmas and all through the town not a Sign of Baby Jesus was anywhere to be found. The people were all busy with Christmas time chores like decorating, and baking, and shopping in stores.

No one sang “Away in a manger, no crib for a bed”. Instead, they sang of Santa dressed up in bright red. Mama watched Martha Stewart, Papa drank beer from a tap as hour upon hour the presents they’d wrap.

When what from the TV did they suddenly hear? But an ad… which told of a big sale at Sears. So away to the mall they all flew like a flash buying things on credit and others with cash! And, as they made their way home from their trip to the mall, Did they think about Jesus? Oh, no… not at all. Their lives were so busy with their Christmas time things no time to remember Christ Jesus, the King. There were presents to wrap and cookies to bake. How could they stop and remember who died for their sake? To pray to the Savior they had no time to stop. Because they needed more time to “shop till they dropped!”

On Wal-mart! On K-mart! On Target! On Penny’s! On Hallmark! On Zales! A quick lunch at Denny’s. From the big stores downtown to the stores at the mall they would dash away, dash away, and visit them all!

And up on the roof, there arose such a clatter as grandpa hung icicle lights up on his new ladder. He hung lights what would flash. He hung lights that would twirl. Yet, he never once prayed to Jesus… Light of the World. Christ’s eyes… how they twinkle! Christ’s Spirit… how merry! Christ’s love…. How enormous! All our burdens …. He’ll carry! So instead of being busy, overworked and uptight, Let’s put Christ in Christmas and enjoy some good nights!

Remember Jesus is the reason for the season!

The store is closed today!!!

The Store is CLOSED TODAY

We have a winter blizzard over here in Winnebago!

There is over 10 inches of snow and still snowing. The plows have been out three times already! There is also winter advisory until 6am Sunday and they advise NO travel in Faribault county unless it is an emergency. Sorry to say the store is closed today and will re-open on Wednesday. We do not want to risk the 50 minute drive in this weather.

With winter approaching and I live about 50 minutes away from the shop I have decided to close a little earlier during the week. Please make a note of the following store hours which will start November 1st.

Wed, Thurs, Fri 10 am to 5pm

Sat 10am to 3pm

I know I hate to say the word but during the winter months if there is bad weather with lots of snow and roads are bad the store will be closed. Please feel free to call me at 391-1314 to see if we are open on that specific day.

~ HAPPY NEW YEAR ~

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas with lots of Merry Wishes with Snowflake kisses!

I had a very busy holiday and I still have holiday events to share with others. Sorry it took so long to put up a new post but time waits for no one and we have to do the things that need to get done before we can play =)

Many of you have sent emails with well wishes because I was suppose to have foot surgery but guess what? This lady can not be down and out! I found out that a person who is normally on their feet all of the time, that the healing time would take about 3 months and the recovery was very painful plus there were NO guarantees. So I decided against it. Call me chicken BAK BAK!

As many of you know I LOVE the holidays and Christmas is my FAV of all time! I also love to decorate so I thought I would share some pictures from my home to yours!

This is our tree that the girls pretty much have taken over with all of their decorating skills! This is their favorite time of the year as well and it is so magical for them. I have many ornaments on the tree that all of my children, grandchildren, family and friends have made for me. I love the home made items because they come from the heart with love.

There is nothing more precious then one of my girls or grand children giving me a present filled with excitement and their eyes are just dancing! Then they patiently await with dancing around until I unwrap their special gift that they have made for me at school. I love to see their smile that dances across their whole face! Now that is priceless and their is no better gift.

Can you tell we like lights? Lights just seem to make everything more magical at night.

Here are some of my snowmen. They are such jolly good ole souls!

No chimney but the stockings were still hung with care! We must of all been good because nobody received any coal!

I told you I would post a few pics of the gifts for the Cards for a Cause. Here are some of the gifts I had started wrapping and boy was I under the gun! I had a few hours to get everything wrapped because the wrapped presents were due that day by 4:30pm! But we did it!

It was really a lot of fun buying presents for all of the kids and also very hard. We filled their requests but because I did not know these children I wondered a lot about their style, colors and if they would like the little extras I added. I started shopping at Super Walmart about 8:30pm and do you know what time I left?? It was about 1:30 am and I even had to get help from an employee! I am sure I got her behind on her work but I thanked her and I greatly appreciated it!

Here is the Community Center that I had my husband, Mike take the presents to. I could not go because I was still running around in my pajamas!
I just hope all the kids liked their presents and I am looking forward to the....

Come in between 10am-3pm and make yourself cards at only $1 each!

They are already pre-cut and designed so all you have to do is look at the sample and assemble. No registration is required. Now that sounds FUN! There will be 10 to 12 cards to choose from and you can make just one or make them all or make duplicates, you pick and choose! There is NO limit on how many you want to make.

Michael has now started teaching classes at the store for Photography/Cameras and Computers. I know there are a lot of you out there that want to be more camera and computer friendly (me included) and have asked for classes so Mike's teaching is already going on! This way you can learn to love your camera and not be afraid to push a key on your computer! He can arrange times that work for you and get more attention with one on one & hands on! Just give us a call for more information.

Look at this Class we have coming up with Kathy. This gift set just gives me a warm feeling with the earthy colors from My Mind's Eye! The chipboard box and key chain book is from the Maya Road collection. Kathy added embellishments to the book by using rub ons from Pink Paislee. Half of the pages are left empty so you can add your own pictures to the pages. Make this sweet set for yourself or give it to the special man in our life for Father's Day!
