Scrap Event Rocked!

Sorry it took so long to create this new post but between the Internet being down for over a week and recouping from the event here it is..........

First a big THANK YOU to Sheila, Heidi and my hubby Mike for helping to get the event ready. There was a lot to do but we did it! I think the biggest thanks goes to my hubby though for loading the van and unloading, loading and unloading and carrying all of the heavy items. I think he is working on body building LOL !

Also, thank you to everyone that was able to attend the Scrap Event or that got to stop in and visit. Because of You I am still able to have a these events!

The 2 day event went by so quickly! We were over half filled for Friday night and there was a FULL house with 32 Scrappers for Saturday's event. Boy there was a LOT of scrapping going on! I have posted a few pictures below.

Here is Heidi Blankenship having Demo time! She showed how to use the
Wizard from Spellbinders, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and JustRite. We ended up having about 20 ladies taking advantage of the Free Demo. There were also some lucky ladies that ended up winning some really nice prizes that Heidi gave away. Heidi has some really beautiful designs and if you would like to see some of her work just click here.

Here are a couple pictures of all the ladies that attended the scrap event. Some moved in for the whole weekend!

Some of the ladies came with friends, some made new friends and I think all of them accomplished a lot of projects. You should of seen the paper flying and tape runners running!

I also had my mini Scrapping on the Go store set up. Lots of new goodies that many of you fell in love with and lots of Hot Buys and sales. This was a great time to get stocked up for summer projects. I think the "hottest deal" was my special paper bin. You could get 6 designed sheets of paper for a buck!

If you have not checked out the left hand side of the blog please have a peek. There are a lot of updates. Some of the shows have been cancelled and I have a new date and new location. Here is the info for the next Scrap Event....

October 23rd and 24th

Fair Lane Building located at the Fairgrounds

Albert Lea, MN

Don't forget to mark your calenders.

I think this location will work out really well because the main thing is that this location is ground level. I know this will make it a lot easier for the rolling totes! Plus there is more room so nobody should have to be put on a waiting list! I am so excited that I was finally able to get in on the reservation!

I realize it will be awhile before the next Scrap Event but if you do need any supplies or certain papers that I carry just give me a call at
507-391-1314

On a more personal note on ME~

Today Mike and I went to our Community Center to volunteer our time to help make food packets for "KIDS Against Hunger"

I must say this was really FUN! It touched my heart and it made me really appreciate that I never grew up hungry and that my children have food on the table every day. It also breaks my heart to know that there are so many children that go days without food.

After speaking to many of the children that were also there helping they all had so much fun! They said that this is their Valentines gift to all of those kids! They are all looking forward to doing this again.

Mike has some pictures posted on his blog of what went on there today. So just click here and go see how Kids helping Kids can help to make a difference. For more information and if you would like to make a donation just click here

Just wondering if any of you got the chance to read the Albert Lea Tribune on Thursday February 10th? Well the Tribune had asked for people to send in stories on how you met your significant other for a Valentines publication. I really did not think that my story would be printed but I was having fun writing it! I had actually forgotten all about it until my oldest daughter Rani, told me she was reading it! So in case you missed it here it is.

White sneakers, blue eyes, black jeans, butterflies and a special kiss

Do you remember the song, "It's in his Kiss" by Cher? Well, that is the song that came on the radio when my date asked me, "Would it be ok to give you a kiss?" I knew right then that Mike was "The One." And that song stood true.

I had never been on the computer for Internet dating, and I really never even knew what it was all about until an ad popped up on the computer for Cupid.com. I was actually looking for old classmates so I clicked on it to go check it out.

I had seen a lot of people on the site and only one person caught my eye. He had the bluest, dancing eyes with a smile that was so sincere! I read his profile, and he was a two-time organ donator. I knew this person was a very caring person so I sent him an e-mail.

After about three weeks, we finally got to talk to each other and about two weeks later we met. I was still a little leery because you hear a lot of stories about things that go on from the Interned. My friends and family knew of our plan to meet in a different town, in broad daylight with lots of people around me! I had to still be cautious.

Butterflies were fluttering in my stomach, and I felt like I was in high school all over again! There were a lot of what-ifs running through my head while I drove a half an hour to meet this new person. I wondered would he even like me because he never did get to see a picture of me. He was going by the description that I gave to him.

There he was smiling ear to ear! He took off those sunglasses, and I saw those baby blues. his bright, white tennis shoes stood out like a sore thumb against his black jeans. Next my eyes noticed a black, tucked-in T-shirt with some design on the front, and he wore a black leather jacket. In my head, all I could think about was Johnny Cash.

Those butterflies were still fluttering, and I was so nervous with excitement. Here I was almost 36 years old, and I felt like I was 16 all over again! We went into the restaurant for coffee and conversation. I was laughing inside but was smiling on the outside because I kept wondering how this guy could drink coffee and chew gum at the same time.

We decided to go see a movie, got a bite to eat, and we parted with a kiss while the song on the radio from Cher cam on. Oh, yes, it was in his kiss!

Now with tears in my eyes as I write this and over seven years of married memories with two beautiful girls together, he also gained a step-daughter, and we have three sweet grandchildren, here we are today.

Mike and I still joke around how we met and about those bright, white tennis shoes that he wore. And the gum, well, he hated the taste of coffee, but he knew I loved coffee so he wanted to impress me. To this day, he still has not taken a sip of coffee, but I love him more than words can say.

The Albert Lea Tribune only changed the Title. Mine was It's in His Kiss

**New Updates**

Brrrr Baby it's cold out there and the wind is howling and blowing! Then there is snow and more snow! I know we are NOT going anywhere with the 3 foot drifts in our driveway!

My First BIG THANK YOU goes out to my hubby Mike, my sister Tonya, my mom Barb and my niece Courtney! I can honestly say without ALL of their help this event would not of happened! Thank God for family! SO THANK YOU!

Second I want to thank all of you who were able to come out and visit and for those of you who attended the scrap event! And for those of you who could not make it I hope you are creating some wonderful memories and scrapping those keepsakes! Maybe I will see you next time!

We all had a very fun time and I know I forgot my camera but next time I will pack that first along with my register tape! Thank you all of you for your understanding. Next time there will be more signs, the scrapping hours will be a little longer and even though every registered guest received little gifts, every registered guest will also WIN a prize!

This was my first one and I learn as I go and please, please if any of you have any suggestions or ideas please email me at scrappingonthego@yahoo.com . I would Love to hear your ideas and thoughts.

I am very much looking forward to the next one in March! I will no longer be having Card Mania but I will have a free make and take! Card Mania takes many, many hours to prepare and I guess I will use that time to prepare and plan for the scrap events instead. I know you ladies are going to miss it but you just never know what I might come up with next! ;-}

There will be limited seating to 32 spaces. You will have a 4 foot area all to yourself!

I know some of you would like a better understanding of the Punch Card so here goes.....

~The Punch Card has $100 worth of punches on it. Once you spend $100 you will receive $10 in FREE product!

~Whenever you have at least a $5 dollar sale before tax your card will get punched. And for every $5 dollars in purchases your card will get punched.

~If you have a filled punch card BEFORE your purchase you can either take $10 off of your purchase or go pick out $10 in product for FREE!

~If you spend at least $200 dollars before tax you can use one of your filled cards to take $10 off of your purchase.

~If you finish up a card on one of your purchases: Example you have have only 3 punches left before a card is filled and you just spent $25. You will get your 3 punches and I will start another card for you. At that time you can go get $10 in free product but you CAN NOT use it to take $10 off until your next purchase because you just filled up the card with the purchase you just made.

~I keep all of the cards for you on file so they go to ALL scrap events with me. Plus if you call and order anything from me or once my HOT DEAL of the WEEK starts up again I will also give you punches for that as well!

I hope this clarifies the Punch Card for you but if you have any questions just give me a call or email me. I will be more than happy to help you.

For those of you who were only signed up for Friday and not Saturday and your wondering how I survived Friday night after getting sick......

Well I stayed at my sisters THANK GOD! By Saturday afternoon I was alive and kicking!

I know through all of the excitement I forgot to have my Christmas Basket giveaway ready but I did put in all of the customers names in by Saturday afternoon who had stopped out on Friday and all of the registered guests names were also put into the basket. We drew the name before closing on Saturday night and the Winner was.....

SUE VANVOOREN

Congratulations Sue! I hope you are enjoying all of the goodies!

Cards for a Cause

I need some ear plugs, a maid, some chocolate and calgon. I have some wine so maybe I can go lock myself away somewhere and hide out for awhile!
